Windows on the World combines action and research to find solutions to complex societal challenges which impact displaced children. Through workshops, performances, and participatory research, it explores children's experiences, promotes healing, builds resilience, and co-designs sustainable support systems within the communities where they live.
Action
We believe in the power of the arts, especially music, to create positive and transformative change for refugee children facing uncertainty in their lives.
WOTW offers a vital, outlet delivering a structured programme of creative arts projects in accommodation sites in mainland Greece. These projects transcend cultural and language barriers, building connection and community
Research
Refugee children living in prolonged displacement face some of the highest levels of psychological distress worldwide. Their lived experiences are shaped by the isolation they face in camps.
The team combines expertise in Clinical Psychology, Social Sciences (including methodologies such as Ethnography and Participatory Action Research), Global Migration Health and Creative Arts Engagement.
The study aims to generate new knowledge around three broad axes:
1) The lived realities of refugee children and their social environments
2) Pathways of mental well-being through music and the arts
3) Embedding within an Ecosystem
